The first printed issue of Dialectic, the Relativism and Objectivity issue, was a fairly substantial success despite a few close calls finance-wise. We're already taking submissions for the Spring issue, Life and Death, so if you'd like to get an article published, now's a good time to start thinking about it. Submissions can be up to 1000 words, and can be on any topic related to the issues surrounding life and death, such as: - What does it mean to die? - Could there be life after death? - What is the meaning of life? - What does the fact of death mean for human freedom? - What are the ethical implications of causing death, or of giving life? - Are there causes worth dying for?
In addition to articles written specifically for Dialectic, you can submit practice or procedural essays, previously written notes, explanations posted on a forum, and so on. Remember though that they MUST be your own, original work, in a Microsoft-Word-readable document format, under 1000 words, and good quality philosophy that doesn't render itself obscure through excessive use of technical jargon or references. Submissions failing to meet these criteria will be rejected or sent back to the author for further editing. Don't let that put you off though, the editors are friendly people who will be happy to help with suggestions for improvement, very few articles conform to the right format straight away. If you have an article you'd like to submit, or an idea you'd like to discuss with the editors, email Dave Allen at dialecticsubmissions@googlemail.com. The deadline is Friday 28th November (the end of Week 7), so get cracking!
